Sea Life Play Cube – Activity toy or Memory Jogger?

Recently I came across an activity toy which took me back to my childhood. It was the Anatex Sea Life Play Cube. During World War II I was evacuated from London to my Aunt who lived by the sea. Now whilst this sounds like a wonderland for any child I should say that because of the threat of invasion all the beaches were closed with barbed wire fencing. However it was lovely to just look at the sea in all its various moods. My favorites were the Spring and Autumn tides with their waves as high as 20 feet. It was this that gave me a love of the sea which lasts even today over 60 years later. (more…)

My Deck is Positively Perfect with New Post Caps

It took me two years to convince my husband to put post caps on the posts on our deck but it has been worth it!  Even he is amazed at how good it looks.  I guess he thought it was going to be really harder then it was to install them but it didn’t take him but a couple of hours to get them all sealed and finished.  Now when you look out from our dinning room window you see this wonderful motif that gives off a nautical feel right off the back deck.
