I’m expecting a big family gathering for Thanksgiving and I find myself already going over the lists of things that will need to be done in advance. My sisters and I will work on the menu together and try to split some of the cooking chores up between our kitchens since that always makes the day much easier. One sister will take care of the vegetable side dishes and the other will take care of making most of the pies. I’ll be cooking the turkey along with a couple of side dishes and another dessert or two. It’s one of my favorite holidays & I always look forward to it. I like having dishes that I can both cook in as well as store leftovers in. That’s what’s great about this Pyrex Glass 19 Piece Bakeware Set.

Pyrex glass bakware is wonderful because you can easily bake or microwave your side dishes or desserts in the containers and then store the food in your fridge or freezer. And the glass cleans up easily in the dishwasher too. This 19 piece set has multiple oblong dishes, a square dish, loaf pan, a pie dish, mixing bowls, and custard dishes too.

First off, the build quality of this Stainless Steel Chicken Fryer is great! Everything feels solid with a superior fit and finish. It’s pretty heavy but that’s a good thing because it holds heat really well, which is essential if you want to cook perfect chicken. Because it’s made of thick 18/10 stainless steel you don’t have to worry about temperature fluctuations that can lead to overcooked food and burned oil. This fryer is also pretty wide and deep enough to hold quite a bit of food, so that you can fry several pieces at a time. You get all the advantages of a cast iron fryer with a lot less weight and a more modern look and feel.

The stainless steel is also very nice to look at and will match well with your other stainless steel appliances. The tempered glass lid keeps hot oil from splattering and popping all over your kitchen while you are still able to observe your food for doneness. It would have been nice if the handles were covered, but they are quite comfortable in the hand. Overall I think this is a great stainless fry pan - it’s functional, stylish and priced to sell.

I think I make a pot of lentil pottage about once a week. It just about cooks itself and can then be used in a variety of dishes throughout the week. I like to add some of the pottage to soups and stews. Add a little curry powder to it along with some leftover rice and you have an exotic lentil curry. Add some tomatoes, onions and chili powder for a quick vegetarian chili. I also use the pottage as is as a side dish for almost any kind of meal.

This is one of my favorite bean and lentil recipesbecause it cooks up quickly and is so versatile. Just make a big pot of it on Monday and store it in your fridge for use throughout the week. Thin it out with some chicken broth for a quick and filling lentil soup. You can also use it as a meat substitute in almost any recipe that calls for ground beef. I’ve made spaghetti sauce with it, used it as a taco filling and even make vegetarian Sloppy Joes that were a big hit with my kids.
