Over the last few years many Americans have started growing more of their own food in home gardens and greenhouses. As we get more proficient and gather more tools and equipment to more easily do this we start to wonder where we are going to put all of the equipment after the harvest. If you look to install a storage unit of some kind, most end up with the burning question; are plastic sheds the way to go or is the metal shed just as good?
While doing the research, I actually found good reasons to purchase either one of these over the typical wooden shed. The biggest one being maintenance. A wood shed has to be sprayed every year for insects just like a wooden home does. This means termites and other wood boring insects can cause immense damage to the wood if you are not careful. You also have to paint it every other year, which can require you to scrap the old paint off and look for rotten wood and damaged wood from weather. Neither plastic sheds nor metal sheds have to have this routine maintenance making either one of them a sure winner over their wood counterparts.
